LOVELAND, COLO – BSC Bengals Latta (8-4) squared off with Impact Gold NTX Ones (11-0) in the 14u Gold Championships on Sunday at Barnes Recreational Complex. Impact Gold were ultimately crowned champions after winning the game 9-8.
The stage was set at Barnes Recreational Complex as BSC Bengals Latta punched a ticket to the championship game with a 16-3 victory in the semi-finals. Not long after was Impact Gold NTX Ones who finalized the matchup with an 8-5 victory.
A clean defensive inning and simple baserunning gave Impact Gold a 1-0 lead after one. However, BSC Bengals kept their heads high and on a swivel, capitalizing on errors and smart baserunning which led to a three-run second inning.
Defensive woes continued for Impact Gold with the Bengals bringing in four additional runs in the top of the third. Impact Gold then matched their offensive output, scoring four runs of their own to make it 7-5 headed into the fourth inning.
A solo homer run deep into left field from BSC’s Juliet Moffet served as the only run scored in the fourth for the Bengals. Strong hitting from Impact saw them score runs on four straight batters, taking the lead at 9-8 heading into the fifth inning.
Impact entered the bottom of the fifth with a one run lead after leaving BSC scoreless in the top of the inning. That score would hold for the remainder of the contest ultimately crowning Impact Black Gold NTX as champions.
