FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Oklahoma Athletics National 2025 Madden/Knight got off to a great start on its opening day at the P5 tournament, finishing 2-0 on the day.

Playing in a double-header, the OK Athletics knocked off Warrior Academy, 9-1, in the first game before defeating Glory Adkins Gold, 8-4, in the second game.

“I think our team is playing really well,” Athletics Head Coach Frank Knight said. “They’ve been on a rise here of late, and they are looking pretty good. They are relaxed, they are hitting and pitching well, and the ballpark is phenomenal.”

In the second game of the day, Glory Adkins Gold jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a two-run home run in the top of the first inning by Presley Rivers. OK Athletics got one run back in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI double from Addison Drummond, and then tied the game in the bottom of the second with an RBI double from Preslee Downing.

Glory Adkins responded in the top of the third inning with an rbi double from Abby Lynch-Buxton, but once again, OK Athletics showcased its resilience. Kateklynn Knight tied the game with a solo homerun to center field, and then Downing drove in another run on another RBI double to give the Athletics the lead once and for all.

In the fourth inning, Jayelle Austin extended the lead to 5-3 with a solo home run to center field before Knight connected on her second home run of the game, a two-run shot, to put the Athletics in control with a 7-3 lead. Knight ended the game with two home runs, four RBIs and reached base safely all four times she stepped up to the plate.

The Athletics take on Strykers National Esparza and TC Colorado in tomorrow’s action at the P5 tournament.
